Why America is the greatest nation in the world
Simply put, America's founding was made possible by English citizens, more specifically, the Christian Separatists known as the Pilgrims. At the time, England was the most powerful nation in the world and the birthplace of many enduring principles and institutions that profoundly influenced Europe and the American colonies, including representative government, common law, and the protection of free speech.
England also gave the world remarkable leaders and reformers, including Sir Robert Peel, the founder of modern policing, whose contributions to law enforcement I deeply appreciate. I spent five years serving as a uniformed patrol officer before ultimately retiring from the State Organized Crime Racketeering & Corruption Bureau. Sir Robert Peel's principles have had a lasting influence on the profession to which I dedicated my career.
England was, and remains, a Christian nation, not a perfect one, for no nation is, but one whose people have long been known for their faith, resilience, moral conviction, and strength of character. Those same qualities were evident in the Pilgrims, whose courage, perseverance, and unwavering faith helped lay the foundation for what would become one of the greatest nations in history, profoundly shaped by the Christian principles and values of its English settlers.
America remains part of England's legacy, forever binding our nations together through a shared history, common heritage, and enduring values. The example of the early English settlers should remind every English citizen today of what can be accomplished when people stand firm in their convictions, trust in God, and refuse to surrender to adversity or political correctness.
If you have not yet read Of Plymouth Plantation by William Bradford, make it a priority. It is one of the most important firsthand accounts of the Pilgrims' journey, their hardships, and their steadfast faith in God, something we all need to be reminded of.
I also encourage you to study the Mayflower Compact, an extraordinary document created by Englishmen that established one of the earliest frameworks for self-government in America. Its principles of representative government, mutual accountability, and the rule of law would later influence many of the ideas reflected in the United States Constitution.
Together, Of Plymouth Plantation and the Mayflower Compact stand as enduring contributions of English men and women whose faith, courage, perseverance, and commitment to ordered liberty helped shape the future of the American nation. They remain a lasting testament to the character, resilience, and determination of the English people.
Our Founders, your progeny, recognized America's founding spirit in the landing of the Pilgrims at Plymouth Rock, Massachusetts, rather than in the settlement at Jamestown, Virginia. The Pilgrims risked everything for God. Many lost their lives in the process, yet their faith remained steadfast. Their sacrifice secured a lasting place in both England's and America's history, and their legacy continues to inspire generations more than four centuries later.
As America grew, people from many European countries came here in search of a better life and the opportunity to live the American Dream. My grandparents came from Yugoslavia and built a better life than the one they had known, creating generations of new Americans who loved and fought for this country, just as many of your ancestors did, and their families remain grateful for their sacrifice and the blessings it provides.
The United States of America has often been called the greatest experiment in freedom and representative government the world has ever seen. But God does not experiment. He knew exactly what He was doing, even when we did not. Throughout history, He has sovereignly directed the affairs of nations and the lives of men. There can be no doubt that God governs in the affairs of mankind throughout the world.
These new European Americans helped build the nation we know today. They dug tunnels, built bridges, paved roads, and erected skyscrapers that define America's great cities. Through their hard work, sacrifice, and determination, they left an enduring legacy that reflects the strength, resilience, and pioneering spirit of the English men and women from whom so much of that heritage began. That same strength and pioneering spirit remain part of your DNA today, just as they are part of mine.
England has produced many great leaders, among them Queen Elizabeth I, whose love for England was demonstrated by her words and actions. During the threat of the Spanish Armada, she called upon God and inspired her nation to stand firm in defense of England. The defeat of the Spanish Armada, then regarded as one of the most powerful naval fleets in the world, was so extraordinary that many throughout Europe saw it as evidence of God's providential hand at work.
Sir Winston Churchill was another great leader whose actions demonstrated his love for England. Through his courage, resolve, and leadership, he helped defeat Hitler, saved the lives of millions of European citizens, and helped secure their future freedoms. He was also a leader who relied on God and often recognized His hand in the struggle to preserve England.
Margaret Thatcher was another great leader who often expressed her belief in God, the importance of creating wealth, and the need for individual responsibility. She encouraged her constituents to value ingenuity and a good work ethic. As noted by the Margaret Thatcher Center, she once stated,
“Pennies don't fall from heaven; they have to be earned here on earth.”
William Tyndale and John Wycliffe were both born in England and were influential Christian reformers, scholars, and authors who helped make the Bible accessible to the English people. Both translated the Bible into English so that ordinary men and women could read God's Word for themselves rather than relying solely on the clergy.
Since handwritten Bibles were extremely expensive and the printing press would not be invented for more than a century, Wycliffe and his followers produced handwritten copies of portions of Scripture known as religious tracts, which they distributed in secret. Providing the common people with Scripture was condemned by the religious authorities of the day; those who copied and distributed Wycliffe's writings faced severe persecution and, in some cases, execution. Wycliffe's followers also taught even the poorest among them to read so they, too, could learn and understand the Word of God.
Their efforts met fierce opposition from church authorities, who rejected their work and sought to silence them. Yet neither man was deterred. John Wycliffe died before his opponents could execute him, although decades after his death, his remains were exhumed and burned as a condemnation of his teachings. William Tyndale, however, was arrested, tried for heresy, and executed for making the Word of God accessible to the common people.
Finally, George Whitefield came from England and helped awaken generations of Americans long before the United States was founded. Through his powerful preaching, he called people to repentance and to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He consistently emphasized that our primary identity is not found in the denomination we belong to, but in our shared faith in Christ. We are, first and foremost, Christians who belong to Christ alone. Whitefield's influence continues to resonate throughout our great nation and across the world.
If you have noticed, there is a recurring characteristic among many of England's greatest leaders: their recognition of God in all they did. They believed that God, whose son is Jesus Christ, must be the foundation of their nation to secure their liberties and victories. Their faith shaped their character, guided their decisions, and gave them the courage to lead during some of England's darkest and most defining moments. We can all learn from their example, for they not only changed the course of their nation but also helped change the course of the world.
Today, Europe has been experiencing a wave of migration in which many newcomers refuse to assimilate, fundamentally altering long-established cultures and leaving societies increasingly unrecognizable. Rather than integrating into existing cultures or forming a true “melting pot,” in which people unite around shared values and a common identity, the result has been growing social tensions and divisions, leaving many Europeans as second-class citizens in their own country.
In my opinion, these developments are not occurring by chance but are being planned and funded by globalist interests to destroy Western culture, while being permitted by many of your nation's leaders. England, and indeed all of Europe, should carefully consider the implications of individuals being arrested over online speech for simply sharing their thoughts on what is occurring and, in some instances, for standing silently on a public sidewalk to pray for the unborn.
Whatever one's perspective on these issues, they raise important questions about freedom of expression, freedom of religion, and the preservation of fundamental liberties. Yet too often, these concerns are met with silence, even by our friends, family, and neighbors.
History reminds us that when people remain silent in the face of actions they believe are unjust, the erosion of liberty can continue unchecked. If we fail to peacefully speak up when the rights of our neighbors are at stake, we should not assume others will speak for us when our own rights are threatened. Freedom is best preserved when ordinary citizens have the courage to defend one another's rights and dignity.
Across Europe, many citizens are expressing concern about the direction in which they believe their countries are heading. Their concerns bring to mind Winston Churchill, who warned of the growing threat of Nazi Germany. Rather than seriously considering his warnings, many leaders criticized and attacked Churchill.
Similarly, some of your fellow citizens have faced criminal charges or other legal consequences for expressing their views or attempting to persuade others. Whatever one's perspective on these individual cases, such developments warrant serious reflection on the future direction of England and other European nations, particularly with respect to the preservation of freedom of expression, religious liberty, and other long-established civil liberties throughout Europe.
Every nation has not only the right but also the responsibility to secure its borders. As a Christian, I believe Scripture teaches that God established the boundaries of nations (Acts 17:26). From that perspective, national sovereignty and borders are not merely human institutions but part of God's providential order. I believe that disregarding these principles is not an act of compassion but a reckless disregard for God's sovereign design. Accordingly, sovereign nations have both the authority and the responsibility to govern and protect their borders, and, first and foremost, their citizens. I encourage you to read Deuteronomy, Chapter 28, in the Bible. After reading it, I believe you will find that its warnings closely mirror many of the challenges all our nations are experiencing.
I also believe there is only one path to lasting renewal. Together, our countries must return to Jesus Christ with humility, seeking His mercy and asking Him to bring healing, wisdom, and restoration to our nations. May we earnestly pray that He will graciously restore what has been lost and guide us toward a future firmly grounded in faith, truth, righteousness, and hope.
Take comfort, however, in the examples of your nation's godly leaders throughout history. They did not relent. They remained steadfast in their convictions and refused to be silenced, even when their warnings were unpopular and carried significant personal risk.
In more recent times, some English public figures, such as Nigel Farage and Tommy Robinson, have likewise faced serious personal consequences for peacefully expressing their views, believing they were speaking out for the benefit of their fellow citizens and, ultimately, the wider world. These two men are true English heroes and should be leading England, not having their own country attack them as they did Churchill. History will ultimately prove their concerns were well-founded.
Regardless of differing opinions about particular individuals, those who stand firmly for their deeply held convictions have often done so at great personal cost. I have no doubt that many of you in England and across Europe possess that same love of country, courage, resolve, and determination.
That conviction was clearly demonstrated in England when thousands of their countrymen and women gathered in London to pray for spiritual revival and boldly proclaimed that England belongs to Jesus Christ. Their public witness served as a reminder that many believers remain committed to openly expressing their faith, despite criticism, opposition, and threats to their personal safety.
As Benjamin Franklin famously said during the American Revolution, “We must all hang together, or, most assuredly, we shall all hang separately.” The challenges of every generation are different, but the need for courage, unity, and resolve remains the same. Had your leaders over the past decade demonstrated those same qualities, I believe your nations would not be confronting many of the challenges they face today.
The choice is yours, and so is the future you leave to your children and grandchildren. The future of every nation ultimately rests upon the character of its people. My prayer is that England, America, and all of Europe will seek God's wisdom, pursue justice, cherish liberty, love their neighbors, and experience a spiritual revival that transforms hearts, strengthens families, and blesses future generations.
Choose wisely, my friends. Choose Christ, for He alone is the only way to true freedom. As Christian Americans, we stand with you, as all of you are our brothers and sisters in Christ. We stand in solidarity with you and pray that people across America and Europe will unite in humble prayer to the one true God through Jesus Christ, asking Him to bring a spiritual revival so powerful that it shakes the foundations of the world's power structures, brings countless hearts to repentance, and draws multitudes to faith in Him.
Remember, prayer is the only way to resolve these immense challenges. Most importantly, pray that God will guide your leaders to pursue His will rather than their own, or, if it is His purpose, raise up and establish good men and women to lead your nations across Europe. I have heard and long believed that we never stand taller than when we kneel before Jesus Christ in prayer.
I will leave you with this verse from Scripture:
Exodus 14:14 (KJV).
May God richly bless each and every one of you.
John Lucich

The call to Restore America's Foundation has been ignored for more than one hundred years, which is far too long. We have allowed politicians, activists, and rogue courts to remove God from our schools, agencies, and the public square. Look at what is being taught in many schools today. It's unbelievable. We need to reverse all of this and the only way to accomplish that task is through prayer and education.
